A Legacy of Distinction: Dr. Samaram's Awards and Honours
Dr. Samaram Goparaju was graciously bestowed with the esteemed Indian Red Cross Society Gold Medal
in recognition of his exemplary services to society. This prestigious accolade was conferred upon him
by the Hon’ble President of India, Ms. Draupadi Murmu during a ceremonial function held at
Rashtrapathi Bhavani, New Delhi, on the 17th of July, 2023.
Dr. Samaram was bestowed with the YSR Lifetime Achievement Award by the Andhra Pradesh state
government during an official award ceremony held on November 1st, 2023. This prestigious accolade was
conferred upon him in recognition of his significant contributions to the domain of social service by
Sri. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
In the year 2009-10, Dr. Samaram received the rare honour of being unanimously elected as the
National President of the Indian Medical Association.
Dr. Samaram as the Executive Director of the Swetcha Gora Eye Bank was distinguished by the India
Book of Records for his remarkable contribution to restoring sight to 850 individuals afflicted with
corneal blindness.
The Telugu Book of Records bestowed upon Dr. Samaram a prestigious accolade for his prolific
authorship. He has written more than 200 Medical and Health books, which have served as a beacon of
enlightenment for the common people.
In 2006, India Today (Telugu) Magazine distinguished Dr. Samaram Goparaju as one of the 25
individuals with "Outstanding Achievement." He was lauded as a shining exemplar of Telugu culture, a
revolutionary thinker, and a symbol of dedicated voluntary service.
Dr. Samaram received a special invitation from the esteemed Her Excellency Mrs. Prathibha Patel,
President of India, to grace Rashtrapathi Bhavan on the eve of Independence Day in 2010.
The International Medical Sciences Academy, in recognition of his distinguished contributions,
honoured Dr. Samaram with the prestigious Fellowship Award in 2011.
Dr. Samaram was also honoured with the Fellowship Award by the IMA Academy of Medical Specialities.
In 2012, Dr. Samaram Goparaju was bestowed with an Honorary Professorship of National acclaim by the
IMA Academy of Medical Specialities.
Dr. Samaram's eminence as a subject matter expert was acknowledged when he was invited to
deliberations with the Chairman of the Human Rights Commission, New Delhi, in November 2010.
In September 2010, Dr. Samaram Goparaju was summoned to participate in a two-day retreat of senior
officials and experts by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. This
engagement was dedicated to the discourse on pivotal policies and the implementation of initiatives
related to Human Resource Development, Regulatory Functions, Disease Control, and Maternal and Child
Health, held at New Delhi.
Dr. Samaram received a commendation on World Health Day from Sri Nara Chandra Babu Naidu, the then
Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, in honour of his significant contributions to the field of
healthcare.
Megastar Chiranjeevi, on five consecutive occasions, felicitated Dr. Samaram for his outstanding
services in Blood Donation, Eye Donation, and Medical-social work.
In the past ten years, the Maharashtra government has consistently incorporated Dr. Samaram's health
topic writings into Telugu textbooks for upper primary education.
Dr. Samaram was appointed as a distinguished member of the Expert Committee constituted by the
Government of India for the translation of medical terminology from English to Telugu.
Serving as the Team Leader for the Committee formed by District Officials of Medak, Rangareddy, and
Warangal Districts of Andhra Pradesh, Dr. Samaram led investigations into Witchcraft and Sorcery
Practices.
Rotary International recognized Dr. Samaram's exceptional dedication to the community by honouring
him with the prestigious Commitment of Service award.
Dr. Samaram was consecutively honoured with the titles of 'Best Medical Science Writer' and 'Best
Popular Medical Science Books' by the IMA AP State Branch for a remarkable five-year period.
Dr. Samaram Goparaju received Gold Medals from the Governors of Andhra Pradesh for his inspirational
role in motivating a significant number of voluntary blood donors continuously for six years.
Acknowledging his leadership, Dr. Samaram was presented with the prestigious Best State President
Award by IMA Headquarters.
Dr. Samaram was honoured with the VR Narla Visishta Seva Award for his distinguished contributions
to Social Service.
Recognized for his outstanding service within Rotary District 3020, Dr. Samaram received prestigious
awards as 'Outstanding President' and 'Outstanding Rotarian.
Under his presidency, the Rotary Club of Vijayawada achieved the distinction of being ranked Number
One in the district, earning a remarkable total of 39 district awards.
Dr. Samaram Goparaju received accolades such as the 'Best District Chairman Award,' 'Service above
Self,' and 'Extra-ordinary Performance & All-round Activity in the Business of Mankind' for several
consecutive years.
Dr. Samaram Goparaju was bestowed with the title of 'VAIDYA VIGNANA JYOTHI' (Beacon of Medical
Science) by the Chaitanya Academy, Hyderabad.
Dr. Samaram received the 'KALAA JYOTHI' (Beacon of Arts) title and the "Eminent Personality Award"
from the Lalitha Kala Toranam, Chittoor.
Dr. Samaram was honoured with the "Life Time Achievement Award" by the Roots Health Foundation,

Puraskar' (Life Time Achievement Award) from the Aaraadhana-Planographers, Hyderabad.
Dr. Samaram was the recipient of the UGADI Puraskar, an esteemed award for his outstanding services

Dr. Samaram Goparaju was honoured with the IMA Medachiever National Award for his exceptional
contributions to society.
In a distinguished event on the 4th of August 2023, Dr. Samaram Goparaju was honoured with the
Mandali Venkata Krishna Rao Smarak Award, a testament to his profound contributions to society.
In 2012, he was honoured with the Honorary Professorship by the IMA Academy of Medical Specialties,
in acknowledgment of his exemplary dedication and contributions to the field.
In 2020, Dr. Samaram Goparaju was conferred with the title of Honorary IMA Professor by the Indian
Medical Association headquarters. This distinguished title was bestowed upon him in recognition of his
continued and significant positive impact on Medical Education and his tireless efforts towards the
betterment of societal health.
